The subtitle of this book is really a syllabus. Ethical, regulatory, global and corporate: each of those four words marks a block of the course examined on its own terms, and The Legal Environment of Business: Text and Cases — Ethical, Regulatory, Global and Corporate Issues, 8th Edition by Frank B. Cross keeps approaching the same firm from all four directions. One set of facts can raise a governance duty, an agency rule, a cross-border question and an ethical objection at once, so students who compartmentalise by chapter find the questions do not respect their boundaries.
Why this test bank helps
When a question spans two chapters, the letter alone tells you nothing about which chapter you were weak in. The rationale under each item here names the framework being applied and says why the other plausible framework does not decide the point — why this is a disclosure failure rather than a conflict of interest, why an anti-bribery rule governs where a local custom argument does not. That is how you find the specific gap instead of re-reading everything.

Who it’s for
Students taking the legal environment of business from this edition, particularly where the syllabus stresses corporate governance and international operations, and MBA students covering law, ethics and regulation in one module.
How to use it (the right way)
When you finish a chapter, take one scenario and analyse it from all four angles the subtitle names; that is how the integrated questions are built. Attempt each block closed-book and read the rationale for every item, including where you were right for an unclear reason. It is a study aid, to be used in line with your institution’s academic-integrity policy, as preparation rather than a way around the coursework.
Sample question (shows the format — your download contains the full set)
Q. To win a supply contract, a company’s regional manager pays a senior official of a foreign ministry a substantial sum, routed through a consultant. Under United States anti-bribery law, how is this most likely treated?
- A. Lawful, because the payment followed local business custom
- B. A prohibited payment to a foreign official to obtain business, and using an intermediary does not cure it
- C. Lawful, because it was made by a consultant rather than an employee
- D. A permitted facilitating payment, because it related to a government contract
Answer: B. Paying a foreign official to obtain or retain business is prohibited, and liability extends to payments made through agents where the company knew or should have known their purpose. A treats local custom as a defense, which the statute does not allow. C assumes an intermediary breaks the chain, which is the very arrangement the law addresses. D misuses the narrow facilitating payment exception, which covers routine non-discretionary acts, not the award of a contract.
